He joined the University of Virginia in 2012 focusing on neuroimmunology. His lab is exploring cellular metabolic states and specific functions of the endoplasmic reticulum during the immunological response and pathology in Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and using a combination of bioinformatics and animal studies to further our understanding of remyelination with the hope to develop new therapeutic options for MS. His lab is also studying impacts of the gut microbiome on mental health.
